PPGI is prepainted galvanized steel: a steel sheet coated with zinc, then factory coated with primer and coloured paint. It is supplied in coils for roofing sheets, wall cladding, sandwich panels and fabricated components. The zinc coating, steel grade and paint system must be specified together; colour alone does not define the material.

How to Choose a PPGI Paint System
Start with the installation environment and forming process. Paint chemistry is one part of the specification: zinc coating, surface preparation, film thickness, curing, cut edges and maintenance also affect performance.

No universal service life or warranty follows from the paint name alone. If a warranty is required, request its written scope, exclusions, exposure conditions and maintenance obligations before ordering.

PPGI vs GI vs PPGL: Which Coil Do You Need?

PPGI and PPGL are not interchangeable specifications. Do not substitute Z and AZ coating designations or assume a fixed lifetime ratio between them. Match the substrate, coating, paint and cut-edge treatment to the application.

From Galvanized Coil to Finished Roofing or Cladding
In a typical coil-coating process, galvanized strip is cleaned and pretreated, coated with primer and finish coats, cured and recoiled. Buyers then slit, cut or form the coil into their finished products. Final suitability depends on both the supplied coil and the buyer’s processing conditions.
- Roofing and wall cladding: specify profile, gauge, exposure, paint finish and handling requirements.
- Sandwich-panel facings: confirm compatibility with the panel production and bonding process.
- Doors and fabricated components: confirm bend requirements, surface appearance and film removal conditions.
For project-specific performance, agree a sample evaluation and inspection plan before production. A standard product page does not replace an engineering specification.

Verify the supplier behind the quotation and the documents for the actual order. Our public resources include:

For your order, agree mill test certificate requirements, coating and paint-thickness inspection, colour approval, coil labels, packing lists and loading photographs. Public company documents do not replace batch-specific evidence.

What does PPGI stand for?
PPGI stands for prepainted galvanized iron, commonly called prepainted galvanized steel. It combines a galvanized steel substrate with a factory-applied organic paint system.
Does PPGI mean the same thing as colour coated steel?
PPGI is one type of colour coated steel. The broader term can also include PPGL and other coated substrates. Specify the substrate explicitly rather than relying on colour or the term colour coated alone.
What thickness can ChinaCNU supply?
Our overall PPGI range is 0.12–1.50 mm. Confirm availability for the selected grade, width and coating, and state whether the required dimension is base-metal thickness or total coated thickness.
What are the minimum order and lead time?
Steel MOQ starts from 25 metric tonnes. Typical production takes 15–20 days after deposit and specification / colour approval. The written quotation confirms quantities per colour and gauge, production timing and freight. Ocean transit is additional.
Can I choose a RAL colour?
Send the RAL reference or a physical colour sample, together with gloss, paint system and quantity. Approve the physical coated-steel sample and colour tolerance before production; a screen image is not a production colour standard.
Is PPGI suitable for coastal roofing?
Suitability depends on the full coating system, exposure, roof design, cut edges and maintenance. Provide the project environment and required performance so the substrate, zinc coating and paint specification can be reviewed. A paint name alone is not a coastal-service guarantee.
