DC05 is the special deep drawing quality (SDDQ) cold rolled grade under EN 10130 — one step above DC04. Very low carbon and tight P/S limits give it r90 ≥ 1.9 and n90 ≥ 0.203, so it survives severe multi-stage draws that tear DC04. Typical duty: automotive outer/inner panels, deep sinks and complex appliance shells.

DC05 Chemical Composition (EN 10130)
| Element (max %) | DC05 |
|---|---|
| C | 0.06 |
| Mn | 0.35 |
| P | 0.025 |
| S | 0.025 |
DC05 Mechanical Properties
| Property | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Yield strength ReL | 140–180 MPa |
| Tensile strength Rm | 270–330 MPa |
| Elongation A80 | ≥ 40% |
| r90 (drawability) | ≥ 1.9 |
| n90 (work hardening) | ≥ 0.203 |
Values follow EN 10130 for skin-passed sheet 0.7–2.0 mm. Thinner or full-hard material is quoted against the agreed specification; always confirm the governing standard edition on your purchase order.
International Equivalent Grades
| Standard | Closest equivalent |
|---|---|
| JIS G3141 (Japan) | SPCE / SPCF |
| DIN 1623 (old German) | St15 |
| ASTM A1008 (USA) | DDS / EDDS |
| GOST 9045 (Russia/CIS) | 08ю (08Yu) ВОСВ |

Equivalents are approximate commercial matches, not certified substitutions. When your drawing or die trial depends on r-value and n-value, specify the mechanical requirements explicitly and we will match the correct grade. See the full cold rolled steel grades equivalent chart.
Typical Applications
- Automotive body panels with severe draws
- Deep stainless-look kitchen sinks (carbon steel base)
- Compressor and motor housings
- Multi-stage drawn appliance parts
- Parts where DC04 shows earing or tearing in trials
How DC05 Compares to Neighbouring Grades
Choose DC05 when DC04 passes chemistry but fails the die trial: its higher r-value means the blank flows into the die rather than thinning at the punch radius. The next step up, DC06, is titanium-stabilised IF steel (EDDS) for the most extreme draws — covered in our grades equivalent chart. For simple bending work, DC05 is over-specified; DC01/SPCC saves cost.

FAQ
When should I specify DC05 instead of DC04?
When forming trials on DC04 show tearing, earing or excessive thinning — typically draws deeper than roughly 1.5× the blank diameter ratio DC04 handles, or multi-stage draws without intermediate annealing.
What is the JIS equivalent of DC05?
SPCE covers it commercially; for guaranteed extra-deep performance Japanese mills quote SPCF. State r90/n90 minimums on the order to remove ambiguity.
Is DC05 weldable?
Yes — very low carbon makes it excellent for spot and seam welding, which is why it is common in automotive assemblies.
Do you provide the r-value and n-value on the MTC?
Yes. For DC05 orders the mill test certificate reports r90 and n90 together with chemistry and tensile results.
